About this Site (a VERY Long Section!)

This site started off primarly as an image gallery. To date (June 21, 2001) there are 1166 image files on this site. However, some of these are just backgrounds, banners from other sites, or unique rollover buttons. This leaves over 1100 image files that if divided in half gives you more than 550 unique images! See all of the unique pictures have a thumbnail and larger picture. (Recounted to 660 unique images on August 31, 2001)

Why keep (and use) so many thumbnail files? To make downloading any page easier and faster. If I let the web browser (I.E., Netscape, or any others) redimension the images, the degrades to a point that it makes it hard to see what the picture really is.

This site joined the Sakura Star's top sites on June 25, 2001. It closed later sometime at the end of August 2001. I think they've changed the top sites location and stuff, but I have decided not to reapply. Possition and popularity is not what I intended my site to be about in the beginning. I was side tracked while I had the ranking. Sure it got to 23rd position, but that was the highest it could go.

And this site was added on to the Anime Web Turnpike list of Cardcaptor Sakura sites on July 30, 2001 (or was it the 29?). They're link now goes to the American Red Cross after the Sept. 11, 2001 incident... So I think its closed now.

This site is optimized (mostly) for Dial-up Modem connections (Like myself). I can also guarentee that ALL of the files on loaded are my server. There are only two reasons an image may not be downloading on your computer. 1, your browser's time limit for downloading html data has been reached (most likely), or 2, spelling mistake (my fault). Please contact me if and when you don't see an image on my site. Please include the time when you get the problem. I'll try to work out something with 50megs.com. (Update: It's now Tripod.com, not 50megs.com which is really now 12megs.)

Software used to create this site

Software programs used to create the site
Type of Software
LView Pro 2.1 for Windows Graphics & Animated GIFs
Adobe Photoshop 5.0/6.0 Graphics/Painting
Netscape Composer 4.5 HTML generation (old)
Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 HTML composer (current)
WinDVD DVD player program (Capture pics)
Creative Labs DVD Encore DVD player program (capture sound clips)
Sound Forge 4.5 Audio clean up & Caputre sound
Xing's Audio Catalyst MP3 creator for audio excerpts

The OS's used with these programs are Windows 98, ME and 2000.

This site was optimized for 800X600 resolution. Best viewed at 1024X768 or higher at 24/32 bit color depth on the browser of your choice.

The site was designed at 32-bit color depth at a 1600 X 1200 resolution on a laptop running Windows2000. (Scary huh?)

Audio stuff was captured on a Desktop with 2 SoundBlaster cards, AWE32 & Live! value. One is for DOS programs (and I do use these programs a lot) and the other is for Windows. Also the older AWE32 sound card has a better MIDI syth than the software synth of the Live! card.

Goals of this site:

Fast, easy, straight forward and fun are the goals of this site. I want people using what ever OS to be able to see and read the files here. That is why the sound clips(when posted) will be in MP3 format. People with Windows, Mac or Unix based OS's can read this format with great ease. When this site's construction is complete, it will have the following:

Font used on Menu selection, Pristina.

About Animated pictures

These pictures were assembled and saved using LView Pro 2.1. When converting the images from 24-bit color depth to a palleted color system (256 or less colors), I use Closest match instead of dithering because it (Closest Match) is optimized for cartoons and line drawings. I may, at a later time, optimize them with Image Ready 3.0, which comes with Photoshop 6.0, but I haven't figured out how to make animated images from pre-existing files in this program.

Also notice how smooth these animations come out. This is indirectly due to the controls of my software DVD player on my laptop. I make sure I don't leave a frame out (with out a good reason).

About the banner

The original banner file is 2000 x 480 (pretty big, don't you think). It's dimensions on this site are much smaller. The reasoning behind this is that it is easier to scale images down (shrink them) and have them look right. The images used are easily found on this site. Sakura's picture is from episode 9, where she says there are a lot of great things in the store. Tomoyo's picture is from episode 8, telling Li where his seat is. Of course it's fliped right to left to accomodate her pointing to my website's name. The colors for the gradient were found on Sakura. Her mouth and her eyes. And the Text color was selected from the Pantone Coated colors.

About me

Eric Johannesen, Age 25

College Student studying: Computer Information Technologies (CIT) at Mt. Sierra College. I took 3 quarters of Multi Media Technology (MMT) design here too. Before this I was a student at Cal Poly Pomona as a CS major. The program didn't suit me there though. And my college education started at Pasadena City College studying Music Theory and Computer Science (CS).

What got me interested in CCS? Ami's Little Library (primarly a Sailor Moon site with WinAmp skins for Sailor Moon and Evangelion) added a new site to her list, Sakura's Dreamworld. I later saw the US version and tried to figure out where Tomoyo was. (Silly, it was Madison). I didn't care much for the US dialoge but did like what I saw from the animation.

I noticed while at Fry's Electronics, they had Cardcaptors and Card Captor Sakura DVDs. The Card Captor Sakura DVD was rated for PG-14 while the US dubbed version was rated for everyone. This was a big clue to me that there were dramatic differences between the shows. I bought the Card Captor Sakura DVD and immediately loved the series. I am still trying to figure out what makes the original Japanese version rated PG-14.

Interests: Computer stuff, people, Science Fiction, Japanese Pop, performing Classical flute music. favorite genres to perform: Romanitic and Contemporary.

My original website is really my families website at Earthlink

My second and third site are with Geocites. The first one is an more accademic than anything. Still has a lot of other DVD Anime captures. The second one is devoted to Green Legend Ran, an Anime. Sci-Fi movie.

When I'm satisfied with the progress on this site (probably before DVD 4 comes out) I'll probably go back to updating the GLR site to make it look more like this site.

Speaking of the 4th DVD for CCS, I've heard people from CCS free sites complain that the 5th DVD of Cardcaptors will be released before it. They claim it's because the CCS DVDs are taking away the sales from the Cardcaptors DVDs. Hmm. Can't totally rule that possibility out, I think it's for a different reason. While there are 4 DVDs of Cardcaptors, they only have 12 episodes.

Oh, and "silly_moogle" was a common variable name I used in my programs.
