Meet the Characters. Page 1
Information on this page are my own opinions and observations. Please don't copy the text with out permission. After all, you should have your own opinions of the characters. I've decided to have the Characters information be updated on a separate page (with the newer DVDs). This not only shows character growth and change, but also to prevent people who want to be surprised by the series as the story progresses.

Lain - Ah, the lovable Lain (hey! I'm entitled to my own opinions here!). She is the only main character. She also got the Chisa e-mail, but was one of the last to get it. There is so much to write about her, so I'll put it on a different page. Now let's meet the rest of her dysfunctional family.
Mika - Lain's older sister. She seems a bit jelous or annoyed with Lain. She seems conserned about Lain changing in Episodes 3 & 4. She seems somewhat interested (distantly) in what her sister is doing, but seems more concerned about staying cool than anything else. She is extreamly upset with her mother not calling the police in episode 4 when those M.I.B. are found snooping around the house.
Mom - I'm thankful that I have a caring mother everytime I watch S.E.Lain. She is totally unconcerned with anything happening around her or to her family. If Lain were bleeding to death somewhere in or around the house, this lady would do NOTHING. Well, except to continue eating her rice... Not much else to say.
Dad - Lain's father is the most supportive of Lain in her immediate family. Unfortunately, he seems a little too interested in computers, that he doesn't seem to pay quite enough attention to Lain. Still, if Lain needs to talk to someone, this is who she'd talk to in her family.
Arisu/Alice - Lain's best and only true friend. Very supportive of Lain and tries to get Lain to be more sociable. She's always conserned for Lain's well being. I think the North American/Canadian voice for Alice is the same person who did Melfina from Outlaw Star. (Confirmations? Anyone?). Some people don't like Alice, but I do. There's more I'd like to say about her so she'll get her own page of stuff too.
Julie/Juri - M.O.O. (Master Of the Obvious) {borrowed from Mr. Clausen, a teacher I had in high school} I don't know what Julie's problem is. She does seem to try to be friendly towards Lain, but always says the wrong things to her. She is a friend though. Usually seen with Reiko. Julie got the Chisa e-mail before Lain.
Reiko - She mean. I don't care for her too much. If I were in Lain's shoes, Reiko and I would have gotten into many fights. Appearantly, though, Lain doesn't lash out and hangs out a little with this meanie.
Chisa Yomada - she is significantly more of a loner than Lain is in the real world. She abandons her flesh in the very first scene of the series by jumping off a buildings roof. While her real world body is gone, Chisa waits for Lain to join her in the Wired (a cyber world of the Internet... sort of).
Evil Lain - Who is this? She looks just like Lain, but dresses and acts like her opposite. Is it Lain or someone else? Find more about her on the next character page.
M. I. B. - Who are these guys? They don't seem to have a life. They seem to be interested in the real Lain, almost to the point of stalking her.
The Delivery Guy - Seems to know quite a bit about the NAVI systems. He delivers computers and computer components.
J.J. - The DJ of Cyberia. Streetwise and stuff. Just cool. Seems to know the "Evil Lain" and mistakes Lain for the selfish one. Still, he is a great resource for figuring out what is going down with the Wired. |
