Who Am I? |
Unemployed dynamic database website developer who uses PHP/MySQL. I had worked for a tiny computer part reseller of OEM drives and other computer stuff. Since it was a small business, I had the opportunity to learn many skills outside of CIT. There are too many things (customer service, quotes, purchasing, internation shipping, legal documents and corperate taxes).
I had put so much of my life into that company, sacrificing what ever my personal life might have been if I had participated in My Space and Facebook, just to ensure that clients and vendors (who were the only set of current friends) by having a common meeting place, my profile page or what ever it is. I was discharged after 4 years and a month of service. |
Current Path |
I've gone back to college for Media Arts Design knowlege from Mt. Sierra College, Monrovia, California. This is where I got my CIT Bachelors degree. I had taken 2 quarters of MMT back in 2000, and had a very good impression of the school's Media Arts strengths. Some of the brief knowledge I learned carried through with several of the projects I had while working for my previous employer. |

Well, yesterday, I picked up my old glasses with new lenses in them and then stopped by my old college to find out how they could help me find a new job. Sure I graduated with a Computer Information Technology bachelor degree, but I had also used the 3 quarters of Multi-Media Tech while working for Nortech as well. And the time when Nortech was renting space from Paper Graphics Ink, really showed me that I could have some future with media again. I was more in charge of the new sell sheets (layout and stuff) than the boss, and added a lot of the graphics. |

This is the second California state Employment Development Department. Said that the current period was disqualified from benefit because I didn't look for work. Wish they would be more prompt on the service, and not wait over a month to review the stuff. I know, they're under staffed, so I am not angry with them.
One of the things that has kept me from looking for work is not having an answer to why I stayed their so long and how I got let go. I did try to leave once back in 2007. Reasons were that I didn't feel apreciated, and hated the lower wage of $10 / hour pay. I guess I felt strong attachment toward the company entity, its customers and vendors. I remember crying when I left the company after handing a resignation letter. The company was moving from Pasadena back to his garage in a neighboring community. It also seemed like the other workers (that would be the driver, and the boss) were not able to do the RMA, Website, Database, System Administration. His neglect and lack of appreciation seemed to go away after he was working from home. Also, during the transition phase, several large shipments of iPods to International clients were stolen en route. This got me back into working for him. |
